Northern Trust Benjamin Grosvenor Piano Recital
St James Concert Hall
Monday 16 July 8pm
In 2011 he became the youngest ever first-night soloist at the BBC Proms, performing with the BBC Symphony Orchestra aged just 19. But Benjamin Grosvenor has been on the world stage since the age of 11 when he was the outstanding winner of the BBC Young Musician keyboard final. Now he is internationally recognized for his electrifying performances and mature interpretations. An exquisite technique and ingenious flair for tonal colour are the hallmarks which make him one of the most sought-after young pianists in the world.
Benjamin’s programme leads from the effortless ingenuity of J.S.Bach to a mountain of the piano repertoire: Ravel’s satanic portrait Gaspard de la Nuit.
J.S. Bach: Partita No. 4 in D major
Chopin: Sonata No. 3 in B minor Op. 58
Scriabin: Piano Sonata No. 2 in G sharp minor, Op. 19
Rachmaninov: Etude Tableaux, Op. 39 No. 5
Rachmaninov: Polka de W.R.
Ravel: Gaspard de la Nuit
